Priory Celtic Green 4 Hucknall Sports U9's 2
Sunday October 12th 2003
Sports suffered their second successive defeat this time against a strong Priory Celtic side.
Priory who have won every single game this season and sit clear at the top of the table started strongly and within two minutes were a goal ahead. Sports responded with some bright attacking football but cruelly went two down after a Priory free kick on the edge of the area was deflected in past unfortunate Sports keeper William Hillary.
The Sports response was swift. After gaining a free kick midway in the Priory half Josh Henrys placed a superb free kick which hit the bar and bounced back down on the line. Fortunately, Sports man of the match Cameron Taite, was on hand to blast the ball over the line. The first half finished 2-1 to the home side.
In the second half Sports knew that they had to score and played a more attacking game. Very few chances were created though with the Priory defence proving a very hard nut to crack.
Priory made the game safe with two more well taken goals but Josh Henrys scored the goal of the game with another perfect free kick this time into the top corner. This made the scoreline more respectable as Sports didn't deserve to lose by three goals.
