Hucknall Sports U10's Red 4 Beeston Centurions 3

Sunday 8th February 2004

Hucknall Sports under 10s finally returned to winning ways with a 4-3 victory over Beeston Centurions in the YEL division three.

Hucknall made the best possible start as they took the lead through Joe Wells who fired a great shot into the net from just outside the penalty box. Sports played the passing football which has been missing for the last few weeks and scored again when a fine passing move from Danny Stenson and Jack Mosedale enabled Eammon Loftus to strike from close range. All this was achieved against a strong wind and, when needed, strong defending by Jak Craig and Ryan Headington kept Beeston out. Beeston did score just before half time but only because of a wicked deflection.

Hucknall started the second half a little slowly and paid the penalty as Beeston scored to level the game but Harry Anderson in the Hucknall goal made a number of fine saves to keep them in it. However, Hucknall pressed on and with his first touch of the ball substitute Tony Ellis drilled the ball passed the keeper to give Hucknall the lead once more. Sports created and squandered more chances and it seemed a draw was on the cards as Beeston equalised.

However, as the final moments approached up stepped Man of the Match Joe Wells with his 26th goal of the season to seal a well deserved 3 points for a fine team performance.
