Hucknall Sports U10's Red 2 West Hallam Lions 2
Sunday 22nd February 2004
In another exciting game for the neutral but a tense game for the managers West Hallam Lions held Hucknall Sports U10s to a 2-2 draw in the YEL division Three.
Played on a
bitterly cold and windy day Hucknall made a poor start and gifted the first goal
to West Hallam as some sloppy defending left a man free to score into an empty
net.
A superb save by
the West Hallam keeper denied Hucknall a equaliser just before half time as a
cracking Joe Wells shot was turned over the bar.
In the second half
sub Jak Craig came on to steady the Hucknall defence and fine play by Tony Ellis
and Eammon Loftus allowed Joe Wells to grab the equaliser. Another shot by Danny
Stenson also flew just the wrong side of the post.
However, Man of the Match Joe Wells could not be denied his second as he
drilled a shot through a crowded penalty area for Hucknall to take the lead.
Hucknall continued to press forward and good play by Jack Mosedale almost
produced a goal. Unfortunately
though they could not prevent the equaliser in the last few moments of play.
This still leaves Hucknall with a good chance of runners up medal providing they can recapture their scintillating early season form.
