A Win at last for Sports
Goals from Jordan Birch
and Clayton George secure the first victory this season for the Under 10's
White.
From
the start with Sports first attack the win that had looked likely for the past
few weeks was talked about by the parents again. After some promising early
attacks on the Colt’s goal, Sports had a lot of good possession and forced a
corner taken by Jordan and turned in the back of the net by the colt’s keeper
to take the lead. But Colts came
back with a fine individual effort from L. Foster to beat the Sports stretched
defence.
After
half time Josh Burton was unlucky not to put Sports ahead again after a goal
mouth scramble when his shot was cleared off the line. Thomas Scarbro picked out
Clayton on the edge of the Colts area but an off balance shot went wide of the
upright.
Another outstanding performance by Sports keeper Ryan Warner and excellent defending from Daniel Titterton, Mitchell Elson and Jordan kept things even with Sports having the upper hand for much of the second half. Clayton scored ten minutes before the end and after some tense clearances and fine goal keeping Calum Curtis, who had a few good chances to put his own name on the score sheet, marshalled the ball into touch for a Sports throw-in in the last seconds of the match to stop Colts having one last attack. This gave Sports their first win of the season.
It was a game with good sportsmanship from both sides and balanced decisions from stand in and first time referee E. Skiba.
