HUCKNALL’S SPORTS PROVE THE POINT.

The fine sportsmen of Hucknall Sports Under 12’s Saturday walked tall on to the pitch, kept their heads and walked tall off the pitch, to end a season that can only be described as ‘truly brilliant’.  These young men have bounced back to challenge all comers this season, proving to themselves that they have got what it takes to do themselves, and their supporters, very proud indeed.

A difficult and sometimes scrappy game which took until the first goal to get going, saw a solid performance from both teams who displayed their talents well, however there was probably a bit too much pride at stake from the start, for either team to over commit up front.  These two teams share the second place spot in the league, and there was not much to separate them on the pitch this afternoon either.  A goal a piece, midway in the first half for the visitors, was replied to by a goal from the home side midway through the second.

Vijay Digpal did his team the utmost compliment, when he reconnected with a superb 1 – 2 maneuver with Harry Beal to ensure that his name appeared on the score sheet for the 7th game running.  After the equaliser, numerous opportunities fell to the Hucknall forwards, who were unlucky not to clinch the game.  Thankfully, the quick thinking of Adam Lynch to regroup the Hucknall defence after the loss of the injured Daniel Warner, ensured that the visitors did not make it past the safe hands of ‘keeper Josh Priestly a second time.  This heroic effort earned Adam a thoroughly well deserved Man-of-the-Match trophy.
