5 STRAIGHT WINS FOR HUCKNALL SPORTS

Hucknall Sports are enjoying an ascending run up the table to the top spot, and into the limelight.  Another outstanding team performance, coupled with ‘keeper Josh Priestley’s 9th clean sheet of the season, gave the travelling supporters a familiar warm feeling on a chilly March day.

Hucknall immediately took siege of the Bingham penalty area right from the first whistle, unnerving the home defence, when a threatening attack by Vijay Digpal left only the ‘keeper between him and beckoning goal mouth.  The advancing striker was brought down by the desperate goalie and Hucknall were rewarded accordingly.  Captain Daniel Warner selected Sean Holmes to take the spot kick, who converted positively to put the visitors one up after just 5 minutes.

Sports defended solidly throughout the match giving the forwards the confidence to break at will, and on 20 minutes the agile Digpal lofted a cross from deep on the right to connect with a tremendous Ross Lamb volley racing in from 19 yards for Hucknall’s second.  The win was firmly secured midway through the second half, when a sloppy goal kick went straight to Vijay Digpal who does not waste such precious gifts to make it 3 on the day, with the Man-of-the-Match honours given in recognition for the consistent efforts of Ross Lamb.
