Burton Joyce 1 Hucknall Sports U12's Sat 3
Saturday 24th January 2004
Hucknall Sports away form has
been endorsed yet again by another conclusive win. With an excellent display of skill, conviction and mild
confidence, Hucknall are getting used to playing their attacking style of
football in the opponents half of the pitch.
In brilliant winter sunshine,
and a fresh westerly breeze, Hucknall enjoyed a wind assistance first half to
pressure the Burton Joyce goal. Hucknall’s
reward came with a bit of extra luck when after 20 minutes, a superbly lofted
Ross Lamb corner, struck the back of a home defender and ended up in the net.
Hucknall’s determination for a goal of their own came 2 minutes from
half time when Lamb played Sam Sims on to a spectacular finish, driving the ball
in from close range. The impact of
the Sims goal was short lived, as within a minute the home side delivered their
counter blow in the dying seconds of the half.
Sports showed style and determination to maintain their grip on the game throughout the second half, gradually applying more and more pressure on the Burton Joyce defence, though left it late before delivering the well deserved 3rd goal deciding winner, from the Sports midfielder Curtis Ball. This week’s Man-of-the-Match silver-ware recognised Ross Lamb’s consistent effort and set piece skills.
