Hucknall Sports U13's 3 Bulwell Town 2
Saturday 17th January 2004
Last years cup winners Hucknall Sports found it tough when beating a good Bulwell side in the YEL Cup.
Sports started off in great form on a very cold day when Josh the Demon got them off to a flyer, chipping the keeper from 12 yards after Adam [solo] Solomon chipped the ball to him. Sports then dominated and missed 3 great chances before James the destroyer Daykin received a great ball from Lee [the speed] Elvidge to calmly slot the ball in. The destroyer then passed the ball to mighty Joe Todhunter who hit a unstoppable ball into the top of the net and Sports was cruising.
In the second half Sports lost one of their great defenders when, after trying to kick the ball, Nick Ward fell and twisted his knee and Bulwell subsequently scored from that. Sports could have killed the game but for some bad finishing and Bulwell took full advantage of this when they scored again with 7 minutes to go. Jake Newbutt made two good saves to stop the match going into extra time. Man of the match was the destroyer Daykin. But we also would like to say a big thank you for the great defence and goalkeeper for working their socks off again.
