Under 13's Trophy Semi Final
ROLLS FALL TO MIGHTY HUCKNALL SPORTS
Holders Hucknall Sports of Division 3 beat a strong Rolls Royce side who are 4th in division 2 in a epic semi final 5-4 on penalties.
Sports started off the better and created a chance after 5 minutes when a ball from James the destroyer Daykin to Adam Solomon [solo] just went wide. Then it was Rolls turn to go forward and a shot from Ben Cox brought a great save from Sports keeper Jake Newbutt. After 15 minutes a ball over the top from Nick Ward found Josh the demon Davenport who ripped by the Rolls defence and slotted the ball past the out coming keeper.
Sports soaked up pressure from Rolls until a corner on the right side came across the goalmouth and with 3 Sports players missing the ball it finally came to Sean Creer-Thornton to slot the ball home from 2 yards out.
In the second half both teams went out to win and Sports created the chance when Tom Walters [shorty] beat 3 players down the left and hit a ball from 18 yards only for the keeper Matt Monk to pull of a fine save. Then it was Rolls who came forward and Sports keeper Jake Newbutt had to pull of a fine save. Both teams tried to get the goal but with some defending from both sides you could see it going to extra time.
In the first half of extra time both teams were very weary about the golden goal rule. In the second half both teams could have won but with 1 minute to go a great save from Jake Newbutt saw him clear the ball down the right for Matt Innes who turned a player inside out to cross the ball for James the destroyer Dakin who spun and beat the keeper and then chipped the ball that seemed to hit the top of the net and come back out. Sports thought they had won and started to celebrate but as the referee did not see weather it went in he consulted his linesman and he said no. Sports could not believe it and the ref finished the game and it went to penalties.
Sports went first and Adam Solomon stuck the ball away. Then Rolls went up and Jake Newbutt made another great save. Then goals from Sports players James Daykin, Joe Todhunter, Paul the killer Giller, saw Sports keeper and man of the match Jake Newbutt step up to win the game, and he calmly slotted the ball home. The Sports players and supporters were jubilant and all of the Sports players played magnificent in the win.
Sports would like to thank all Rolls players and supporters for the friendliness with hand shakes and clapping for our team, except for one person who, after the match, attacked someone in the car park. You know who you are and you let your team down.
