Up against Derby's premier team, Sports were more than a match for 3/4 of the game.

Slick passing moves involving Gaz Hayes, Dom Masotano, Luke Thomas gave Sports an air of superiority.  Midway through the first half Kevin Farrell fed Scott Rogers who opened the scoring with a sweet left footer.  Sports had several more chances in the first half but couldn't add to the scoreline. Meanwhile, a new look back four of Matt Peberday, Paul Burgess, Jack Allen and Joe Hunt were more than a match for the home teams pacey attackers.

Into the second half, injuries forced changes both to the back four and midfield, for 15 minutes Sports held the onslaught at bay but sloppy defending started the rot. The manager failed to notice the signs and the valiant Sports lads conceded another 3 quick fire goals however Matt Peberday In particular, never stopped trying.
