Hucknall Sports U16's 6 Kirkby Allstars 0

Saturday 24th January 2004

Sports maintained their title ambitions with what manager Richard Ward dubbed "an adequate performance" against foot of the table Kirkby.

It was a new look Sports team that began the game against Kirkby, and the changes seemed to have great benefits as they hit Kirkby for six.

From the moment the whistle was blown Sports pressed their opponents, and it wasn't long before Moore's cross was turned in by Cheeseman, who seems to be in a rich vein of form.

Dhiri ran home the second goal through a beleaguered Kirkby defence, but complacency began to set into some of Sports players. After Cheeseman and Waldron had linked brilliantly down the left-hand side, Dhiri blazed over from 3 yards out, and a few minutes later Moore also missed a golden chance, though before half-time he atoned for this by bagging the third goal.

As Kirkby began to lose any semblance of team shape, many of Sports players became a little greedy, and a lot of possession was lost through wild long range shots. Despite this, Cheeseman capped a fine performance with two more goals, one of which was a stunning 20 yard effort, and Waldron headed home his fourth goal of the season to condemn Kirkby to a convincing defeat.
