FIRST MATCH FOR UNDER 6's
"You're the best we've played yet" were the welcoming words from the Pegasus U6's manager after a thrilling and heart stopping first game for the newly formed Hucknall Sports U6's from the Soccer School.
Having already played over a dozen matches against similar U6's sides Pegasus were quite rightly pre match favourites as Sports had yet to play any previous games. From the off though Sports showed that thy were going to be no pushovers and came close to taking an early and justified lead through Jack Blatherwicks low drive.
The game was flowing from end to end with great football being played by both teams and never once did it resemble a kick and rush game. Pegasus created some great chances only to be thwarted by some thunderous tackles by captain Nathan Brough, who already has the talent to slot into and current U7's side.
With the first half remaining goalless, but full of incidents, it seemed inevitable that the second half would follow the same format with both teams giving 100% effort with goalmouth scrambles at each end. When the final whistle blew both sets of supporters breathed a huge sigh of relief as it would have been a huge blow if either side walked off the pitch defeated.
A warm welcome must go to Paul Blatherwick, the new manager of the U6's, whose first venture into football management was made a lot easier due to a great all round team performance.
