Hucknall Sports U7's White 8 Wollaton 0

Saturday 7th February 2004

After a slow start to the match it took a scrambled goal by Ben Oscroft to spark Sports into life and the sort of form they have shown of late.

From that moment Sports started to dominate in all areas of the pitch and were rewarded by two further goals in the first half scored by Joe Barnes and Kieran Shephard. Although Hucknall played some excellent passing football they were denied further goals in the first half by some very brave goalkeeping by the Wollaton keeper.

The second half was a joy to watch as Sports camped in the Wollaton half and played some of their best football of the season with all of the team passing the ball around with confidence and creating many chances. It wasn't long before Joe Barnes scored two more goals to give him his second hat trick in three matches. The next two goals came from long range from the fast improving Thomas Howarth and the ever dependable Andrew Shaw. The best move of the match involved the midfield passing the ball around with Joe Barnes bursting down the wing and crossing a pinpoint ball for Kieran Shephard to tap in for his second goal and Sport's eighth.

With Sports dominating so much they still had to be professional in defence and this was done by Andrew and Thomas Shaw who both had excellent games. With so many players having played well it was hard to pick a man of the match but one boy stood out and both managers agreed this was Joe Barnes for his hat trick and his tireless running for the team.

A second match played afterwards resulted in a final score of 0-0.

Could we say a belated thank you to Mark and Jane Oscroft for their kind donation of money to buy the training tops for the under 7s white team. We would never have been able to afford this without your help. Thank you from Mark, Chris and all the lads of Hucknall sports under 7s white team.
