Hucknall Sports U7's White 13 Codnor Boys 0

Saturday 20th March 2004

On a day when the wind was gusting to gale force many people didn't expect to see good football being played by these two under 7's teams, but they were wrong as Hucknall gave as good a performance as they have all season and blew Codnor away with some ease especially in the 2nd half.

The 1st half started with Hucknall kicking with the wind but, just as last week,  found it hard to keep the ball under control.  It took about 10 minutes to open their goal account with Aaron Bond scoring after the Codnor goalkeeper made a mistake by letting the ball slip out of his hands. From this moment on Hucknall didn't let Codnor get going as they went on to dominate the rest of the half. Three further goals were scored by Joe Barnes, Emilio Monaci and another by Aaron making the score 4-0 at half time.

As the previous week, Hucknall saved the best for the 2nd half, but this week they surpassed themselves as they played some lovely passing football by the midfield off Ben Oscroft ,Emilio Monaci and Joe Barnes, the latter two stepping into the shoes of Keiran Shephard and Thomas Howarth, both of whom were ill. This was coupled with front man Aaron Bond that they went on to score a further 9 goals playing against a very strong wind. The nine goals that were scored in this half  were made up of goals from Aaron who got 2 more to make his total on the day to 4,Joe Barnes who got a further 3 goals to make his total 4,Emilio Monaci who got a further 1 goal  to make his total 2,and the final 3 goals were scored by captain for the day and a welcome back to scoring form, Ben Oscroft.

Man of the Match for his leadership for today was voted for by the managers and it went to Ben Oscroft for the way he got his team to play in what was tricky weather conditions.
