Beeston Centurions 1 Hucknall Sports U9's 5
Sunday 4th January 2004
Sports kept up their remarkable away form with another victory against a competent Beeston side making it six wins out of seven on their travels.
With Mathew Yates and Keirran Clark away Sports called upon their strong squad and brought in Cameron Taite and Kamran Kahn as replacements.
Sports started the game slowly and within 5 minutes found themselves a goal down when a Beeston cross was knocked in by Callum Taylor. This setback seemed to kick start Sports into action and they scored a deserved equaliser when defender Fraser Flint knocked in a strong shot from a Josh Henrys corner. Alex Smith put Sports into the lead, again from a corner, by chesting the ball down and firing into the roof of the net.
In the second half Sports dominated and it wasn't long before they increased their lead with a left foot shot from Jonathan Swain. Josh Henrys made it four with a sweet shot placed into the bottom corner from the edge of the box. Substitute Josh Bond scored Sport's fifth with a cheeky goal that outfoxed the Beeston keeper who thought he was going to cross the ball for Josh Newcombe.
Man of the match went to Kamran Kahn for a sterling display at the back but every Sports player played excellently.
