Hucknall Sports U9's 4 Beeston Centurions 0

Sunday 4th April 2004

In what was their third match in the Presidents Cup, Sports had to win to keep up with the leaders of the group.

In difficult conditions for both teams and despite bombarding the Beeston goal Sports couldn't break down a resolute Beeston defence with the goalkeeper making some fine saves. Corner after corner were flown in but to no avail.

During the interval Sports manager Nick Henrys said that an early goal was required from Sports and they well and truly obliged. Within five minutes of the second half Sports found themselves two goals up thanks to a headed goal from Jonathan Swain and a shot from Alex Smith.

With Beeston rarely threatening Sports threw on all of their substitutes. This didn't stop the scoring though with further goals from substitute Cameron Tait and a shot into the top corner from Josh Henrys after Joshua Newcombe had hit the bar.

All in all though this was a comfortable victory for Sports and if they win their last game in the group away at Ruddington Colts next week they will stand a great chance of winning the competition.
