Hucknall Sports U9's 3 Cotgrave 1

Sunday 15th February 2004

Against a battling Cotgrave side Sports still managed to win but it wasn't one of their better performances of the season.

In the first half Cotgrave always looked dangerous and went close on several occasions only to be denied by Sports keeper William Hillary, which earned him the man of the match trophy. However, just before half time, Sports persistence paid off when Jonathan Swain continued his recent goalscoring form and scored from close range.

In the second half Sports had more possession but were still struggling to kill the game off against a stout Cotgrave defence including the keeper who made some excellent saves. Sports scored their second when a blistering shot from Fraser Flint was helped home by Jonathan Swain for his second goal of the match.

Cameron Tait made it 3 after a goalmouth scramble but right at the end Cotgrave got a deserved consolation goal.
