Wollaton Hall A 2 Hucknall Sports U9's 3
Presidents Cup
Sunday 28th March 2004
After three dismal performances Sports turned in one of their best performances of the season against Wollaton Hall A.
Undefeated at home all season and only conceding two goals in the process Wollaton were probably the pre match favourites but they couldn't keep up with Sports's pace, drive and determination. Alex Smith ended his goal drought with a shot from close range after again some relentless work from Fraser Flint who started this match in the centre of midfield. Elliott Patman came on to replace the injured Sports keeper William Hillary but looked totally comfortable in goal.
Sports increased their lead in the second half with another goal from Alex Smith via a sweet cross from Josh Henrys. The game wasn't over though as Wollaton scored to reduce the deficit. This goal didn't seem to affect Sports and they subsequently restored their two goal cushion with a goal from substitute Kieran Clark.
A last minute goal from Wollaton came too late though to level the scoreline and Sports ran out worthy winners against a strong Wollaton side.
Two man of the match trophies were awarded to Cameron Tait and Alex Smith.
