Hucknall Sports U9's 1 Carlton Town 5

Sunday 30th November 2003

Sports came crashing back down to earth after their recent good run of five matches without defeat.

The home team were the better side at the start coming close to the Carlton goal on numerous occasions. However, it was Carlton who scored first when a right wing cross was knocked in at the far post by Liam Cooper. Just before half time Sports were very unlucky to concede a second when a miss kicked shot somehow looped over goalkeeper William Hillary.

At the start of the second half Sports came out with greater determination and this paid off for them when Alex Smith continued his recent goalscoring form with a well placed shot which gave the Carlton keeper no chance.

This though sparked Carlton back into life and it didn't take long for them to extend their lead and ultimately secure the points with three further goals from Liam Cooper who was a constant threat for the Sports defence.

In the end Carlton were far too strong for Sports in all departments but the scoreline didn't do Sports any justice at all.
