Calverton MW Red 3 Hucknall Sports U10's 1
Sunday 6th February 2005
This was always going to be an uphill task for Sports as they faced league leaders Calverton MW.
Calverton started strongly and were always first to the ball. Sports struggled to clear the ball and the midfield just couldn't match the strength of Calverton. The home side were very strong from corners and it wasn't long before they used this to their advantage. Three first half goals were scored by Calverton via a combination of defensive errors by Sports. Man of the Match for Sports Josh Henrys managed to keep Sports in the game ironically from a rare Sports corner.
In the second half the management changed things around and brought on Cameron Tait and Josh Bond in midfield. This added extra strength for Sports and then really took the game to Calverton. Sports came close on numerous occasions but couldn't breach a very strong Calverton defence. Calverton were limited to counter attacks and long range efforts with Sports keeper Elliot Patman saving well on each occasion.
In the end there were no further goals in the game but Sports can feel proud of their second half performance but the end result did not do them justice at all.
