West Bridgford Rangers 0 Hucknall Sports U10's 0
Sunday 13th February 2005
Sports went into this game without a victory in 2005 and it was a miracle that they came away with a point.
On a cold windy morning Sports never seemed able to control West Bridgfords energy and enthusiasm and were always second best in virtually every department. The only notable effort for Sports was when a shot from Alex Smith, after being put through from a long ball, just went wide.
During the interval a few changes were made to add a bit of steel to the midfield. With the wind now behind them you would imagine that Sports would use this to their advantage. This though didn't happen and it was Rangers who totally dominated the half leaving just the odd breakaway for Sports. Time after time the Sports goal was bombarded with efforts from Rangers and it seemed only a matter of time before the deadlock would be broken. Excellent goalkeeping from Elliot Patman enabled Sports to cling on which really they didn't deserve. In the dying moments Jonathan Swain had an effort cleared off the line for Sports, which had it gone in, would have been a travesty of justice for the hard working Rangers.
The Sports players really need to look at themselves and wonder how they got away with it after a truly awful performance.
