Hucknall Sports U10's 0 West Bridgford Bulldogs 4

Sunday 20th February 2005

On a cold breezy morning at Wigwam Sports were hoping to put their stuttering season back on track and record their first victory of 2005, but alas it wasn't to be.

Playing against the strong wind Sports started the game confidently, knocking the ball around well and looked a totally different side to last weeks poor showing. However, once again Sports hit the self destruct button and within 10 minutes they found themselves three goals down, all from defensive errors, which the Bulldogs eagerly capitalised on. Moments before half time West Bridgford piled on further misery when they scored direct from a corner. The wind played a major roll but two Sports defenders and the keeper just watched the ball go in and it sealed another very poor half for Sports.

At half time Sports brought on all five substitutes and reshuffled their formation, playing just two in midfield and adding another striker. This worked to a to a degree and with the wind behind them Sports made more of a fight to try and get back into the game. However, they just couldn't crack a tough Bulldogs defence which held firm for the rest of the game.

The Sports players really need to look at their performances since the new year because at the moment it just isn't good enough. They are not a poor side but their inability to take control of the game and their total lack of concentration at times is seeing them slip down the table after such a promising start.
