Hucknall Sports U11's Sunday 4 Stapleford Villa 2
Sunday 21st November 2004
Hucknall Sports under 11s Sunday continued in their winning ways with a convincing 4-2 victory over Stapleford Villa in the YEL cup competition. This was always going to be a test for Hucknall as Stapleford are the current Division 2 leaders having won all their 9 games so far this season.
And so it proved as Hucknall fell behind as Keeper Harry Anderson made a great save at the feet of a Stapleford forward only to see the ball run kindly for another player to chip it into a empty net. Hucknall new they had a battle on their hands and Anthony Timmins soon scored the equaliser with a well placed shot through a crowded penalty area. However, Stapleford replied almost instantly to catch a somewhat static defence to make the score 2-1 at half time
Now was the time for the real Hucknall Sports to make an appearance and this they did as a real torrent of attacking play was unleashed on the Stapleford defence. An outstanding run by William Spray down the right flank and an inch perfect cross enabled Joe Wells to score with a well taken tap past the keeper. Hucknall rode their luck as Stapleford hit the bar ,twice! but Hucknall also hit the post. Eammon Loftus was unlucky as his shot was superbly headed off the line by a stapleford player
A good through ball from Maca Hayes released Wells again and a great finish gave Hucknall the lead for the first time. When Stapleford did manage a counter attack Danny Stenson Daniel Carrington Tony Ellis and Jak Craig were their giving it their all to ensure no more goals were conceded. In the final moments Man of the Match Joe Wells completed his 6th hatrick of the season to take his tally to 26 goals in 9 matches this season.
In this kind of form Hucknall look a good bet for some success this season and it would be a just rewards for the efforts of all the players. Keep up the good work Boys!
