HUCKNALL SELL THEMSELVES

SHORT OF A FINAL.

Hucknall Sports got off to a flying start, managing to display a high standard of play, and maintained most of the possession throughout the first half.  Unfortunately a number of errors were turned into golden opportunities by the home side, who not only defended superbly throughout the game keeping a clean sheet, but took full advantage of their only break of the half, to finish with skill and confidence on 15 minutes.

Hucknall managed to contain the 1 goal deficit until just past the hour when a sustained period of Vernon offensive pressure saw their No.: 10 break across goal to slip the ball past the outstretched Hucknall ‘keeper.  The home team then stepped up another gear, moving their baseline further and further into the Hucknall half of the pitch monopolising their downhill advantage to the full, taking the game far beyond the reach of the travellers with 2 further goals arriving in quick succession on 66 and 67 minutes.

Hucknall lacked the strength and agility in the last 10 yards during to first half to gain the advantage they deserved, and despite the 2 soft goals in the dying minutes of the game, defended heroically despite being without Daniel Warner after the break through injury, crediting the Man-of-the-Match award to Shaun Holmes for holding the back 4 together.
