HUCKNALL SPORTS: 10 OUT OF 10.

Hucknall Sports kicked off this momentous mid season home fixture against the Dynamos of West Bridgford in fine autumn sunshine.

In their accustomed usual league form, Hucknall took a while to settle into their familiar strong presence in the opponents end on the field.  The first goal was well overdue at the 20 minute stage, and arrived when a well aimed drop kick from clean sheet ‘keeper Josh Priestly, fell to Ross Lamb who took it all the way to the edge of the 18 yard box, and to the delight of the home supporters hammered it unstoppably into the West Bridgford goal.

The second came when a West Bridgford advance down the left was speedily reversed and redirected through the Hucknall midfield to find the advancing Sam Sims who had out run the retreating Dynamo defence to tuck away his first with style and confidence.  Vijay Digpal completed the 3-0 half time score line, connecting with a precision pass from Danny Jones on the right on 34 minutes.  West Bridgford played their better football in the first period, holding up some good possession and passing manoeuvres in the midfield, but their “big kick over the top” approach to try and get past the Hucknall defence was not able to produce the desired effect, and the home side’s back four were well deployed to strategically deal with this style of play.

In the second half Hucknall Sports demonstrated why they are 12 points clear at the top of this Division.  Some text book midfield passing from Jan Westrik on the left to Kane Barker on the right, to slip the ball through to the skilful Danny Jones, who with vision released ‘Man-of-the-Match’ Sam Sims who had made yet another fine run to deliver his second.  No Hucknall score line this season of 6 goals or more has been possible without a hat trick from the prolific goal scoring abilities on one Vijay Digpal, and this Saturday was no exception.  To compliment his first, he delivered his second and third within 30 seconds of each other.  Another fine Priestly drop kick found the unmarked Digpal, on-side this time, to pressure the Dynamo ‘keeper and score in the 62nd minute.  In the 63rd minute, a quick thinking 1-2 sequence intercepting the restart with Ross Lamb completed this conclusive 6-0 home victory after a 5 match stretch of away fixtures.
