Hucknall Sports Under 6's 2 Hucknall Sports U7's White 1
Saturday January 22nd 2005
It
was a great morning for the Soccer School when the new Under 6s team played
their first match against Sports Under 7s Whites on a cold and frosty Wigwam.
It was agreed that each team should field their strongest side in a 30 minute match followed by a 20 minute match to give all squad members a run out. From the off it was clear to see that this wasn't going to be a easy ride for the Whites with the Soccer School boys battling for every ball and showing great passion for a team so young and inexperienced. It therefore came as no surprise when the underdogs took the lead after 10 minutes when a goalmouth scramble saw a melee of players hustling for the ball and it was virtually impossible to see who eventually turned the ball over the goal-line to give the Soccer School the lead at half time.
The
2nd half followed in much the same vain and both teams played some excellent
passing football and it was slightly against the run of play when Charlie
Blatherwick made it 2-0 firing home an unstoppable left foot drive after being
put clean though by the excellent Kieren Green. Deep into injury time the Whites
pulled a goal back but had no time to push for an equaliser as the Under 6s
heroics enabled them to hang on for a fantastic victory in what will hopefully
be the first of many.
The under 6s are currently without a manager, so if any coach or parent would like to help could they please contact Phil Barnes at the Soccer School as this young group of boys will surely be a great time to manage.
