Heathfield Juniors 2  Hucknall Sports U8's Saturday 3

Saturday 5th February 2005 

A much changed and experimental Sports side gain victory against a continually improving Heathfield side. 

Although Sports had made numerous changes for this match they without doubt dominated right from the off but an excellent display of goal keeping by the Heathfield keeper and some lacklustre finishing resulted in Sports being a goal down midway through the first half. Sports however responded well and from the restart went straight up field and man of the match Daniel Long scored the first of his two-goal tally to level the game. Shortly before half time Dan Long scored another well-taken goal to put Sports ahead. 

After making several changes to the team at half time it was Sports who continued to dominate but Heathfield showed great spirit and caught Sports on the counter for the equaliser. However it was to be Sports's day when Joe Mee finished at the end of some superb passing football to give his team a much-deserved victory. 

This was a friendly game which saw every player of a large Sports squad get an equal chance to show their potential but whilst some individual players shone it was by no means the best team performance this squad has produced.
