Rolls Royce Leisure 0 Hucknall Sports U8's Saturday 0
Saturday 12th February 2005
A highly competitive local derby played in a strong
wind and under adverse conditions ended in a goalless draw.
This was always going to be a hard fought contest but Rolls
Royce were certainly taking no prisoners and with some late tackles, often going
unpunished, Sports had an uphill battle on their hands.
The wind prevented Sports producing the kind of football
they have been producing in recent weeks and neither side created any real goal
scoring opportunities in the first half especially when the two fullbacks of
Sports (Daniel Crump & Joseph “Wack” Walker) were in no mood to let
anything or anyone get by.
The second half saw Sports with the wind behind them but
they failed to turn this to their advantage. Sports rattled the woodwork midway
through the second half, the loose ball rolled along the goal line but it was
the Rolls keeper who in a goalmouth scramble came up with the ball. Just before
the final whistle Rolls were denied by an excellent save from Sports keeper Dean
Harris to leave the match goalless.
Man of the match was Daniel Crump who was his usual rock steady self and who never put a foot wrong in this game.
