Hucknall Sports 0 West Bridgford Rhinos 3

Saturday 19th February 2005

After a run of good results Sports succumbed to a talented and sharp Rhinos, who never let Sports settle into their game.

Although there was some fine individual performances in this match Sports were outplayed for much of the first half by a Rhinos side that were definitely up for this game and Sports found themselves two goals down by halftime.

In the second half Sports lifted their game and tried to make a fight of it only to be cruelly punished when the referee ruled the ball had crossed the goal line during a goal mouth scramble after a good initial save from Sports Keeper Dean Harris. A ruling neither set of managers or spectators agreed with, although we all have to accept the referees’ decision is final. Sports did manage to create a couple of goal scoring opportunities but it wasn’t to be their day and the game finished three – nil to the Rhinos.

Man of the Match for Sports was Joe “Wack” Walker for a tireless and rock solid performance.
