AFC Vernon Colts 4 Hucknall Sports U9's White 2
Sunday 14th November 2004
Hucknall sports u9s white lost their unbeaten record at AFC Vernon going down 3-2.
Sports were slow from the start and never seemed to get into the pace of the game and went one down when Vernon were given time and space to shoot from inside the area on the left. Sports got level when Sam Wells worked the ball into the area and in the scramble that followed a last ditched tackle Sam Straw fired home.Sports failed to take control like they have in the past and but for some hard work from man of the match Sam Abbott they would have gone under.
The second half was much the same and when Vernon got a very lucky second goal from a blocked clearanceSports knew it would not be their day. However, sports did get level again when Joe `H` Hewitt ran through and fired past the advancing keeper. The game was sealed by Vernon getting a goal when the ball was played in from the right and the striker kicking the ball as the keeper got his hands on the ball. The referee awarded the goal others may have not. Overall sports were slow, complacent and lacked the fire in their belly to win this game and got what they deserved, the taste of defeat in the league.
If sports want too finish higher this season they will need to grind out results on bad days like these by being more up for the game and not sulking when things are not going right.
