Sneinton Town 2 Hucknall Sports U10's White 3

Sunday 2nd April 2006

Hucknall Sports U10 White visited lowly Sneinton Town and made it hard for themselves.

On a small wind swept pitch Sports tried to play their usual passing football but found Sneinton hard to get round on the small pitch. Sports had some chances on goal but were unable to find the net due to the keeper or framework getting in the way. Sports went a goal down when a ball in to the area bounced around and was handled by a Sports player and Sneinton converted the penalty. Sports pushed for a reply and after some chances were wasted they drew level when Mitchell Cassidy went on a run down the left into the area and beat the advancing keeper. Sports then had most of the play and had chance after chance but just could not finish the game off, despite hitting the framework, goalkeeper and defenders the ball would not go in. Sports then gave away another penalty when the referee spotted another hand ball, which Sneinton put away.

The second half was all Sports but Sneinton looked like they where digging in to defend the whole half which is about what they did. Sports found them hard to break down and with Sneinton smothering in numbers Sports kept at it and with seven minutes to go got the breakthrough when a ball into the area by Paice Lees was handled and Charlie Miller converted the penalty. Sports went for the win while Sneinton tried to hang on for the draw and Sports got it when captain Joe Gill leapt like a young salmon to head home past a static defence from a Joe Priestley pin point corner. Sports took the points on what was a day that is better forgotten in many ways but pressure is kept on the leaders.
