Hucknall Sports U10's White 5 Pelican Colts Red 2

Sunday 9th October 2005

Hucknall Sports White made it four wins out of four to keep up their fine start to the season.

Showing all the signs of a week off Sports found Pelican a tough team to get going against and throughout most of the first half it was Pelican who had Sports under pressure. Sports had the odd spell of pressure but failed to make it pay with the Pelican keeper making some good saves.

On 18 minutes Pelican got the goal they deserved when Sports made a sloppy clearance that Pelicans Lewis Sanderson controlled and fired home. Sports finally started to stir and on 22 minutes super sub Mitchell (butch) Cassidy got Sports level when he followed in on a Paice Lees shot to knock the ball home.

With the teams level at half time Sports started better in the second half and had long spells on the attack and went a head when man of the match Paice Lees chased down a defender whose clearance came off his legs to feed Joe Hewitt, who had a clear run on goal and calmly finished past the advancing keeper. Sports now started to pass and the game opened up with Sports pushing for more and they got it when Paice Lees finished off a passing move with a shot in to the corner.

Sports went further ahead when Mitchell (butch) Cassidy let fly with a shot that whistled into the back of the net. Sports made it five when Paice Lees was on hand to finish after a Joe Hewitt shot had been pushed away by the Pelican keeper.

On came the subs and Sports had some more chances to score when Sam Wells set up Charlie Miller who fired just wide. Pelican got a late goal back when William Beaven ran through and finished past sub keeper Jack Grainger.

Overall Sports got the result but made very hard work of it and with next weeks game being a top of the table clash they will need to show their true spirits a lot earlier, but well done to every player because you all pulled together and got the result.
