Hucknall Sports U10s White 4 Wollaton Hall Green 2
Sunday September 11th 2005
The new season got off to a great start for Sports who gained full points against a hard working Wollaton Hall team.
Sports started the better with some great passing moves down the right, which resulted in some good chances on goal. Sports's first goal came after some good passing between Paice Lees and Matthew Brierley who created a through pass to Joe Hewitt who rounded the keeper to score. Wollaton came back within a minute when some slack marking allowed them to poke the ball home for close range. Sports continued to create chances and scored again when Joe Hewitt got between the last defender and the keeper and stole the ball to fire past the stranded keeper. Sports made it comfortable when Paice Lees chipped over the keeper from the edge of the box following a corner which was scrambled clear only to fall to him.
3-1 at half time but
Wollaton came out fighting and forced Sports to defend hard with Sam Abbott and
Joe Gill making some important tackles. Wollaton continued to pressure but went
further behind when man of the match Joe Hewitt turned on the edge of the box
area and got his hat trick goal. Sports could have gone further ahead but the
referee ruled the ball had not crossed the line despite many claims otherwise.
Wollaton did get a late goal from a corner when Sports failed to clear and
the ball got poked home. The final score of 4-2 means Sports are off and running
but they will need to be more awake in future games.
