Hucknall Sports U10's White 6 Gedling Southbank Blue 0

Sunday 18th September 2005

Hucknall Sports U10's White continued their fine start to the season with a win over a team who won 8-1 last week.

From the start sports took the game to Gedling Southbank with some good closing down of the ball and a wish to get the ball. Sports had some good chances early on and looked on top when Joe Gill volleyed the ball just over from a Joe Priestley corner. Sports went ahead when Joe Hewitt robbed the defender of the ball past another to shoot past the advancing keeper. Sports pushed for a second and got it when Joe Hewitt got his second by being on the end of a good passing move by Sports when Paice Lees and Matthew Brierley played one twos up the field before feeding Joe Hewitt to score.

With Sports in full flow the passing got smoother and went further ahead when Paice Lees let loose a rocket from the edge of the area which the keeper could not stop from going in. Southbank did try to raise their game and had a penalty turned down when a loose tackle brought the player down on the edge of the area. Sports also had some good chances but where kept at bay by some fine goal keeping by the Southbank keeper. Sports did make it four just before half time when Joe Hewitt completed is hat trick by again robbing a defender and running from half way and fired past the keeper.

In the second half Sports kept control and worked hard to keep it despite the management team swapping players round and trying new positions. Sports made it five when Joe Gill won a ball on half way and went on a run at goal, riding tackles to poke the ball home off the post. Sports rounded off the match when substitute Sam Straw won the ball in the area and beat the keeper at his near post with a good shot. Southbank did keep going till the end and had some half chances that where dealt with by the defence or picked off by Aaron Bradley in the sports goal.

Overall a very good team effort with Joe Hewitt making it six goals in two games but the rest of the squad all contributing in the win well done all of you and lets keep it up.
