Ravenshead Reds 2 Hucknall Sports U10's White 3
Sunday 22nd January 2006
Hucknall Sports White got lost in the fog against Ravenshead reds in the YEL U10 Division 3, despite going one up within two minutes Sports looked out of sorts with their usual passing missing.
Sports got off with a goal in under two minutes when Joe Hewitt got free on the left and raced into the area. His shot was pushed away by the keeper but only to Joe Priestley who’s shot hit the post rebounded out and hit Charlie Miller on the shins and bounced into the net. The next eleven minutes of the game was scrappy with Sports making chance after chance but not being able to finish. Then came the only good Sports move of the day when a pass left Joe Hewitt free on the left, he attacked the goal line and as he worked his way into the area he passed to Matthew Brierley, who was in front of goal unmarked and fired home over the keepers right shoulder. It ended 2-0 half time.
The second half was as bad as the first with Sports wasting chance after chance and getting sloppy with it but they did make it three when Joe Hewitt shot from distance and the keeper fumbled into the net. This game then went into scrappy mode until the last three minutes when Sports fell asleep. Ravenshead, who were getting more and more into the game and creating chances due to sloppy marking from Sports, scored when a ball was fired into the box from the right and Ravenshead reacted first. But from the start Sports let Ravenshead through again to score, and now at 3-2 Ravenshead pushed for the equaliser but lucky Sports woke up enough to hang on for the win.
This was not a good Sports performance by a long way and with the quarterfinals next week against the same team Ravenshead must now fancy their luck. Sports must now work on their attitude in training along with now to keep control until the end and not get lost in the fog!
