Hucknall Sports U10's White 3 Gedling Town Black 0

Sunday 27th November 2005

Sports enjoyed another game of football this time against Gedling Town black who are situated at the opposite end of the league to Sports.

Sports started sluggish after choosing to field players in unfamiliar positions. Sports though were soon pushing for the opener, but had to be on their toes because Gedling were wanting to cause an upset if possible. Sports started to get the passing going with Sam Wells and Sam Straw linking well down the left and it was these two who won the corner from which Sports scored. The corner was taken short by Charlie Miller to Sam Straw who did a one two back to Charlie  round the defender and then ran into the area and shot home into the roof of the net. Gedling kept pushing for a goal but the Sports defence managed to keep them out and limiting them to rare sights of goal. The second sports goal came when an attack by Gedling was broken down by Charlie Miller in his own area who then beat two players and run the full length of the pitch to score the goal of the match. Sports had lots of possession but failed to convert any more chances.

The second half started with Sports making five changes, which helped Sports dominate the second half. Sports went close when Joe Hewitt attacked down the left crossed the ball in and Ryan Harrison shot but just missed. The next chance again fell to Ryan Harrison when he hit the post from close range after a Joe Hewitt corner was not cleared. Sports goal came when a shot on goal by Ryan Harrison came off the keeper’s knees for Michael South to prod the ball home. Sports had the upper hand and but for some very good saves by the Gedling keeper could have had more. Sports man of the match Aaron Bradley had a solid performance along with all his teammates who never looked in danger of loosing the match but credit must be given to Gedling who kept trying until the final whistle.
