Hucknall Sports U10's White 3 Greasley Miners Welfare 0

Sunday 30th October 2005

Hucknall Sports White maintained their 100% record with a win over Greasley Miners’ Welfare.

With the game being played in some heavy downpours of rain both teams did well to keep playing football. Sports started well and pushed for control from the start and got the breakthrough after seven minutes when a Joe Priestley corner was punched by the keeper only to fall to captain Joe Gill on the edge of the area who fired left footed in to the roof of the net. Greasley battled well and kept Sports on their toes in a very close first half but Sports had the most half chances with man of the match Michael South making some telling runs down the wings but no one were able to convert the crosses.

With the score 1-0 at half time Sports found themselves under some pressure from Greasley at the start of the second half. Sports were forced to defend hard but they kept Greasley out and limited them to only half chances that never tested the Sports defence. Sports made it two when Greasley were caught on the break from a lovely through ball from Sam Abbott who found Joe Hewitt all alone with only the keeper to beat which he calmly did. Sports took control now and made it three when Joe Hewitt fired home again after picking up on a long ball forward. Sports had full control and could have had more but for some good saves by a busy Greasley keeper who somehow plucked out a Charlie Miller corner from under his own bar.

The sports team again worked hard for this result and every player should feel proud of themselves today.
