Hucknall Sports U12's Saturday 5 Sherwood Vipers 1
Saturday
12th November 2005
A committed
performance from Sports finally got the season up and running, and in what
style!
Sports seemed up for
the game from the start and the returning Danny Stenson put Sports one up after
2 minutes with a well taken left foot shot. With Sports’ midfield running the
show a through ball from Jordan Burch left Josh Leatherland to coolly slot home
number 2. Continued pressure and some delightful touches for the much improved
Josh Burton resulted in another chance for Josh Leatherland and he finished to
put Sports 3 up. Further chances came and with Billy Edwards pressing forward at
every opportunity and the determined running of Thomas Scarbro, Sports can
consider themselves unlucky to be only 3 up at the break.
Goalkeeper Buster
Simpson had to be at his best shortly after the re-start with a smart save and
any further Sherwood attacks were snuffed out by the pace of Thomas Lambert and
the tenacity of Mitchell Elson, Jak Craig and Howard Howells.
Sports's domination
was rewarded as Josh Leatherland converted his third for a well deserved
hat-trick and Billy Edwards made it 5 with a shot too hot to handle for the
Sherwood goalkeeper.
This was the first
win of this season and the best all round team performance so far with Sam Watts
and Jason Harris completing the winning squad.
Credit should go to Sherwood who battled to the end and deservedly scored a consolation goal but this was Sports’ day and hopefully a springboard for bigger and better things.
We will now however require our new lucky mascot Nigel to turn up next week cheer on the side!
