Bulwell Rangers 4 Hucknall Sports U12's Sunday 6
Sports ended their season on a high after an entertaining game against Bulwell Rangers.
Both teams seemed to want to enjoy themselves as they appeared to leave their defences behind and played some very attacking football.
Top scorer Joe Wells started the scoring with a cool finish after 10 minutes but only after both teams had already hit the woodwork and created further chances. Bulwell equalized on 14 minutes and almost took the lead on 21 but Dan Carrington cleared their goalbound effort off the line. Sam Lawrence scored his 1st goal for Sports moments later after collecting a pass from Chris Goodacre to make it 1-2 but Bulwell pegged them back again just before the halftime whistle with a 2nd equalizer. Sports were determined to go in at the break ahead and in injury time there efforts were rewarded when a fine move involving Joe Wells and Eammon Loftus ended with Chris Goodacre hitting the back of the net to give them the advantage.
Not surprisingly the hosts came storming back early in the 2nd half and scored a 3rd themselves in the 36th minute with a well taken free kick before Sports were yet again ahead with a headed goal from Eammon Loftus.
No-one knew which way this game was going to go with both teams looking like scoring at any time, but most people expected Bulwell to score at least 1 more goal and that they did in the 49th minute, which tied the game up again at 4-4.
A draw would have been a fair result on the day, but Sports dug deep late on to snatch 2 more goals in the last 2 minutes, courtesy of a second goal apiece for Sam Lawrence and Joe Wells to give the visitors a 6-4 victory.
