A thrilling match saw Sports take control driving forward for long periods of the game with numerous chances being created.
Clifton owed much of the result to their keeper pulling off fine saves from Billy Johnson, Edward Cook and Jack Blatherwick. The woodwork also denied Sports twice.
The Sports goals came from Edward Cook and Nathan Brough with the Sports keeper Kyle Bradley also pulling off a fine save at 1-1.
Clifton's second and equalising goal came from a controversial penalty decision.
Josh Thrower was named man of the match for his outstanding display in defence alongside Matthew King.
