Toton FC 1 Hucknall Sports U9's Saturday 1

Saturday 1st April 2006

The final game of the season sees the third meeting of two well-matched and excellent footballing teams.

With Toton having won the first league encounter by a solitary and late goal and Sports knocking Toton out of the cup by the same score line in two very exciting games this was always going to be a cracker and it didn’t disappoint. Sports had the early momentum but Toton defended well and took every opportunity to attack which in turn produced some rock solid defending from man of the match Daniel Crump and Tom Howarth. With both teams playing some neat passing football going forward and both defences and respective keepers on fine form goals were going to be hard to come by, but Sports were to take the lead when Stephen Whitley finished off a sweeping attack. However, Toton were soon to be back level when they punished Sports for uncharacteristically not playing to the whistle.

The second half again produced some sparkling football from both teams, which was a pure joy to watch, Toton finished the game stronger but Sports dealt well with the pressure, and overall everyone concerned agreed that the draw was the right result.

So with 150 minutes of competitive football played between these sides and only 4 goals produced the honours remain even and it leaves everyone looking forward to their next encounter.

In a friendly after the main event Sports took their chances well and came away with a six-one win.
