The first match of the season saw Sports on the road at Clifton and playing in dismal weather conditions, they weren’t to get the result they wanted.

Right from the start Sports took control of this game but failed to turn possession into goals, largely due to an outstanding performance by the Clifton keeper. Then midway through the half Clifton were awarded a free kick just outside the box which was initially saved by the Sports keeper but a defensive error saw the ball end up in back of the net.

Sports again started the second half well but a hard working Clifton did not allow Sports to turn possession into goals and in the dying minutes of the game punished another Sports error to win the game two-nil.
