Kimberley MW Black 1 Hucknall Sports 2

Saturday 12th November 2005

Another impressive Sports performance sees them take a deserved three points away from home.

Sports started this match with dogged determination and kept Kimberley penned into their own half during the first ten minutes but could not find the killer touch. Kimberley worked hard and attacked whenever they could but Sports weren’t about to let their hard work and pressure go for nothing and continued to dominate the first half. Although Sports created numerous chances with a superb display of passing football they could not find the back of the net and the half finished goalless.

The second half again saw Sports on the attack and after winning yet another corner, Liam Kilcullen delivered the perfect ball for Stephen Whitley to head home. Sports should have gone two ahead minutes later when the Kimberley defence were opened wide by Sports man of the match Joseph “Wac” Walker who passed to Whitley who in turn threaded an inch perfect ball to Daniel Long who uncharacteristically fired wide of the mark. From the ensuing goal kick Kimberley caught Sports napping and snatched a well-taken equaliser. Sports were not to be out done and after some brilliant work in mid-field Walker fired home a much-deserved goal. Kimberley pressed again and was only denied by a fine save from Dean Harris who had had a very quiet time in the Sports goal. The match ended two- one to Sports.
