Hucknall Sports U9's Saturday 1 Keyworth Utd White 0

Saturday 15th October 2005

Sports make it a hat trick of wins and clean sheets, remaining unbeaten at home this season.

Sports started this game strongly and were playing some fantastic flowing football in the first 15 minutes that carved through the Keyworth midfield but could not seem to turn possession into goals. This was mainly due to some great defending by Keyworth who to their credit never sat back and attacked Sports whenever they could. The last 10 minutes saw Keyworth having a better spell but with the rock solid defensive partnership of Danny Crump and Joe Walker coupled with Sports keeper and man of the match Dean Harris dominating his area, Keyworth never really produced a real threat and it was Sports who were denied just before the break when the keeper saved well from a Richard Allen strike.

The second half began with Sports back in control and with the midfield partnership of Liam Kilcullen, Dan Long and Stephen Whitley working together like a well oiled machine they created three good scoring chances in as many minutes but failing to find the back of the net with any of them. Keyworth wasn’t about to lie down in this game and after a superb counter attack were only denied by a goal line clearance from Walker. This however only spurred Sports on and after relentless pressure a determined Whitley, went on a rampaging run, rode two challenges and turned provider again with a magnificent cross that allowed “Big” Joe Mee (on at half-time for Allen) to head home for the winning goal and take his personal tally to seven.
