Hucknall Sports U9's Saturday 5 West Bridgford Wolves 1
Saturday September 17th 2005
After dominating their first match of the season but
coming away the losing side Sports were in no mood to let it happen again.
Right from the first whistle Sports took control of this
game and could have been three goals to the good in the first five minutes had
it not been for an outstanding display from the Wolves goalkeeper. However, in
the seventh minute Sports man of the match “Big” Joe Mee scored the first of
his four-goal tally after Sports produced an excellent movement, seeing four
players touch the ball before Stephen Whitley crossed an inch perfect pass into
his path. Straight from the ensuing kick off Sports regained possession and
continued to press a spirited Wolves side hard, but in a movement that saw
Daniel Long play a superb ball to Skipper Liam Kilcullen who made no mistake
with his strike they were two goals down. Wolves continued to fight but they got
little change from the Sports full backs Daniel Crump & Joe Walker who
mopped everything up and gave Wolves no chance of settling on the ball. By half
time Wolves were three down when Stephen and Joe linked up again.
Wolves started the second half stronger and were rewarded
for their efforts and fighting spirit with a scrambled goal after Sports Keeper
Dean Harris had made an initial superb save and had recovered sufficiently to
regain the ball only for the referee to deem it had crossed the line much to
Sports dismay. This only spurred Sports on and again Stephen Whitley turned
provider for Joe Mee’s hat trick. Richard Allen on for a shattered Liam
threaded the ball through the Wolves defence for “big” Joe’s fourth and
Sports fifth goal. The last ten minutes saw Harrison Carlin & Cory George on
for Dan Long & Joe Mee and both picking up where their departing teammates
had left off.
This was a fantastic team performance from Sports who showed some quality football beyond their tender age.
