Hucknall Sports U9's Sunday 3 West Bridgford Tigers 0
Sunday 4th December 2005
For the second time this season the Tigers from West Bridgford were forced to endure a 3-0 mauling at the hands of the under 9's.
Jack-Henry Williams was instrumental in laying on the first goal for his midfield team-mate and captain, Kieran Sheppard. After only 5 minutes he drifted out to the right wing, creating the room to knock over a perfect cross to the back post for the onrushing Kieran to side foot into the corner from 5 yards. Josh Pickering shot fractionally wide after his blistering pace had sent him through on goal. Thomas Howarth tried his luck from distance, with one of his long range specials. But there was a well positioned defender on the line to head clear and help out his overworked goalkeeper. A second goal cushion before the half time interval was the clear objective for Sports and it looked to be mission accomplished as Jack-Henry and Emilio Monaci picked their way through the defensive line with some brilliantly intricate passing but the final shot on goal from Jack-Henry cannoned back off the corner of post and bar. Even though the half-time advantage was a slender one the advice from the management team must surely have been to continue playing to the same high standard and the goals will follow.
Sports did indeed extend their lead in the second period when Emilio Monaci burst through on goal and finished with all the ability and style of a young Francesco Totti. The Tigers were still seeing plenty of the ball in and around the middle of the pitch but the moment they advanced too far into a forward position up popped either Asa Shelton or man of the match Thomas Howarth to snuff out the threat with some no-nonsense defending. McCauley Walker was causing problems for Bridgford from the moment he took to the pitch, with his ability to shrug off a challenge and continue forward. The third goal came via the tried and tested partnership of Jack-Henry Williams and Kieran Sheppard, once again Jack-Henry hitting the perfect pass from out on the wing and this time Rocket Ronnie showed off his silky skills with a peach of a lob over the keeper to cap a job well done.
Sports are now undefeated in their last 19 league games. A tremendous achievement, attributed completely to their hard work, team spirit and boundless enthusiasm.
