Hucknall Sports U9's Sunday 7 Ernehale Colts 0
Sunday 9th October 2005
The under 9's out-gun the Colts, as they notch up their fifth straight victory.
Sports looked to have left their shooting boots at home in the early stages of the game as shot after shot failed to hit the target or trouble the keeper. But there was no stopping them once the first goal had been prodded in from close range by the classy Jack Henry Williams, although his goal celebration does need some work! Kieran Sheppard made no mistake as he fizzed his shot low into the corner to make it 2-0 to Sports. Emilio Monaci continued his rich vein of form, by scoring a third goal after showing great determination to beat his marker to the ball. Josh Pickering was next on the score sheet, as the Ernehale defenders hesitated, Josh nipped in to slot it under the keeper and score. Even the defensive duo of Asa Shelton and Thomas Howarth were trying to get in on the goal scoring act. Both of them firing long range bullets marginally wide. At this point Sports could have resorted to route one football in a quest for more goals but showed good maturity by continuing to pass and move and create their openings. It was just such a move that led to the fifth goal on the stroke of half-time. The goalkeeper could only block a Rocket Ronnie special and Emilio was first to the loose ball to tap in his second of the match.
Sports continued to boss things throughout the second period. With Conner Gilbey and Aaron Bond both on as second half substitutes, the Ernehale defence were constantly being made to work. Emilio Monaci cut in from the right wing and played the ball square to Conner Gilbey, who spun and shot in one movement, but the keeper managed to get just enough on the ball to stop it crossing the line but up popped the Smiling Assassin Josh Pickering to take his goal haul to ten from five games. The pick of the goals though was definitely the magnificent seventh. Asa Shelton surged out of defence and rampaged up the pitch avoiding two desperate lunges on his way before crossing for Kieran Sheppard to simply stroke the ball home.
The man of the match was awarded to Thomas Howarth for his terrific impression of Alan Hansen in defence.
