Hucknall Sports U14's 2 AFC Vernon Colts 2

Saturday 9th September 2006

Sports' first game of the 2006/2007 season got off to a promising start and with only one player missing from the squad, Sports looked confident and ready to play football.

Newly promoted Vernon had a lot to prove in their first game in Division One of the YEL.  It was an end to end game from the first whistle, with both teams creating chances.  Sports scored first from a
great corner which was put in the back of the net by James Talbot. However, Vernon kept their
heads and pulled one back with a screaming shot going just under the cross bar.  At 1-1 the game picked up and saw Sports have several attempts on the Vernon goal, either go wide or saved by the Vernon keeper.

The second half brought another goal from Sports by the foot of Jake Brothwell.  Vernon though
never gave up and managed to pull back an equaliser to end the game 2-2.  It was a fine display of football  and a great start to the season by both teams.
