Hucknall Sports U11's Red 2 Moorgreen Colts 1
Saturday
9th February 2008
In a game where few chances were created,
Sports took theirs to maintain their unbeaten run in the league.
Moorgreen played the offside rule well and
the Sports forwards were caught several times as they tried to penetrate the
Moorgreen defences. It took twenty minutes before Sports took the lead, which
they carried through to half time. A loose ball inside the
Moorgreen half was won by Mark Shelton, he beat his man and feed the ball
through to Oliver Davidson-Turner. Turner seeing Joe Harrison on a run pushed
the ball through beating the offside trap. The keeper ran out as Harrison ran
on, both players touched the ball but it fell better for Harrison who tapped it
in to the empty net.
The second half begins and Sports are
pushing for a second. They win a throw on the left and Rian Charles receives the
quick throw, he sends Harrison down the left and he accurately crosses to the
waiting Reegan Morris. The keeper comes out but Morris moves to his right to
give himself a clear attempt on goal. Morris makes no mistake and puts Sports
2-0 up.
Moorgreen make changes and with
encouragement from the sides pick up their game. Ben Clarke who later wins the
“Man of the Match” trophy and Stephen Whitley, who is playing in an
unfamiliar position at the back and Kieran Davis soak up a lot of pressure with
their fine tackles.
A goal midway though this half puts
Moorgreen back in with a chance, a fine shot inside the area is well saved by
Dean Harris but the ball lands back at the attacker, who from a fine angle gets
the score to 2-1. Later in the game both Harrison and Joe
Barnes have chances to make the game safe but their efforts go wide. A good win
from Sports and the three points keeps them at the top of the division.
