Carlton Town Yellow 1 Hucknall Sports U11's Red 3
Saturday
29th September 2007
The game started at a
cracking pace and after twelve minutes Carlton took an early lead, against the
run of play, but as soon as Sports settled down, their class and tireless
running earned them all three points.
Sports quickly regrouped and
within two minutes were level. A long throw in on the left into Carlton’s
penalty area is headed away by their defence, Rian Charles picks up the loose
ball, controls, and his first time shot gives the keeper no chance and Sports
are back in the game.
Sports confidences grew and
they were soon creating some good moves. The ever tireless Oliver Davidson
–Turner was linking well with Charles and Ben Oscroft in midfield and after
twenty minutes took the lead. From another throw on the left Davidson-Turner
finds Joe Barnes, he sends Stephen Whitley down the left who quickly sees Reegan
Morris free in the box, his inch perfect pass gives Morris his chance, and he
makes no mistake as he puts Sports 2-1 up.
More chances were created but
Sports couldn’t find the finishing touches. Mark Shelton, Ryan Holton, Ben
Oscroft and Ben Clarke all go close as their stamina begins to show. Kieran
Davies in defence is keeping Carlton at bay as they break forward.
The second half begins and a
free kick just outside the box on the left brings the third goal. Mark Shelton
takes the kick; it looks to be going in but the keeper just managers to push it
away for a corner. From the corner skipper Ben Clarke runs in to meet the ball
with his head and puts sports 3-1 up.
Sports could have had more
today, chances were created but their finishing was below par. There were plenty
of good performances on the pitch this afternoon and the busy Oliver
Davidson-Turner who seemed to be everywhere today helping out, was named “Man
of the Match”
